"The garden is now a delight"

“We had a new house with a green square of grass. It was depressing. It was featureless. It was a turfed prison yard! But salvation arrived in the form of a flyer through the letter box from a chap telling us he was virtually a sorcerer in a garden! And grasping at the proverbial straw ,we contacted him. I immediately liked his dry ,unusual sense of humour which I appreciated….as mine is often misconstrued! And he sketched a design which my wife and I both liked immediately. Simple but realistic and not horrendously expensive. He and the extremely hard working John arrived about four weeks after the initial interview as promised….so that was a good sign! The transformation took about a week and that included more patio laying and the planting of 40 or so plants in heavy clay soil. The highlight of the whole project was a joint trip to a wholesale garden centre where Dave’s knowledge of plants and gardens soon became very evident and we purchased many superb specimens at much reduced price. The garden is now a delight and I intend to live long enough to fully appreciate the siting,number and quality of the plants! I cannot wait….and I’m happy to commend Dave Lewis as the gardener of choice to transform any smallish garden! Thank you, Martin S”

David and his team created a fabulous transformation of our garden and we couldn’t be more delighted with it. David’s enthusiasm, hard working team and simple but classic design all added up to an excellent end result.

The project was started at the worst time of year – January but the team battled on through rain, ice and a little snow to finish the job on time and, most importantly on budget.

Now, with summer here, we can really appreciate what a great job the team did with beautiful shrubs and flowers in full bloom in a well laid out and easy to maintain garden.

We had them round to lay a patio area, seating area and to move and relay our old patio slabs to sit a new shed on. Dave came round and gave us a quote on the spot. “We invited Dave from Stratford Landscapes around to discuss our small garden landscaping project early 2019, Dave was very passionate about his work and while some other people we met with who were very much hardscapers Dave was really keen to discuss the design, layout, plants etc. I showed Dave a sketch of my initial thoughts and some pictures from which he drew a design proposal. We went with the proposal and were very happy with the outcome. I particularly enjoyed the couple of hours that we spent choosing the plants, it was nice to have his suggestions and also nice that he wanted me to choose what I wanted for the garden. Dave and his team did a professional/high standard job and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him for landscaping small gardens.”

Let The Guys Work Their Magic. You Won't Be Disappointed...

For 20 years our garden had a variety of purpose. From being overgrown when we moved in, to a type of “landscaping” before, to sandpits, climbing frames, swings, playhouses, sheds and finally a huge trampoline. It was time for a grown up garden where we could escape teenagers, enjoy pottering about and somewhere I felt was my own little corner of nature when not as work. David came into our lives when he returned my query via the website. And that’s my first point about him – he always answers phone calls, emails or texts. He came round and drew up a design and quote on the same evening. We liked him. He made us laugh and could understand what we wanted. The quote was good, we asked him to continue.

The work started sooner than David had anticipated and I became worried. Recent dealings with workmen on other parts of the house had not been great, and I was fussy, skeptical and naggy. David and his guys humoured me, put me at ease and worked extremely hard. Point 2 – they work their socks off. David suggested changes tot he plan as we went along. By now we trusted David and his workmen – we let him change things, stepped back and allowed him to do what he thought was best. Point 3 – allow David to make suggestions and listen to his reasons why; he’s usually right.

Our garden was a bigger project than we had realised. There was a lot to do and my impatience had to turn to patience as I watched it transform. The workmanship is incredible – the attention to detail perfect and not rushed. Point 4 – they are fussy too! We now have the most amazing garden. In two weeks we’ve all spent more time out there together than we’ve spent in the last 3 years! My teenagers love it, I love it, we all love it. The whole house feels lighter, bigger and more loved. It’s made a huge difference to us already; sad, but true.

My advice – let David tell you what he thinks. Let the guys work their magic. You’t be disappointed.

Richard and Lucas were a pleasure to have working in our garden. They arrived on time and got on with all they planned to do, with no fuss, noise or drama. They kept the garden and around our property as clean and tidy as they possibly could, all the time they were with us. Their final clean up was thorough and complete.

Your input into our final layout was very helpful and the materials you suggested were absolutely right. The stone has lovely subtlety in tone variation and is complemented perfectly by the pebbles around the pleached tree bases.

Once the summer house and furniture are installed, we will forward you the ‘completed’ photos as you requested. We will hopefully have completed some planting by then as well. Bring On The Summer...

Hi David,

From our first conversation and meeting with David the team at Stratford Landscapes were fantastic and the project didn’t break the bank.

It was amazing how quickly our garden went from being a miserable mud patch to a beautiful functional garden which we are very much looking forward to enjoying when the better weather comes.

In just 3 days, Dave with his team of Richard, Chris and Lukas worked non stop to complete the work. At the end of each day and when the work was done they cleaned the area and made sure everything was perfect. He Designed The Perfect Garden For Us...

In October 2012, Dave designed and completely re-built our small garden. It is fair to say that we are absolutely delighted with the results, to the extent that we were planning to move house in the near future but have decided that we now want to stay where we are for the foreseeable future to make the most of our new garden.

From the start, Dave listened to us and took into account our likes and dislikes, wants and needs, gardening inclination and ability and ultimately how we use our garden. The Workmanship Is Of A High Standard...

I employed Stratford Landscapes to return to our garden from an extremely neglected state to a garden this pleasant and functional. A new patio area was laid and bases installed for a garden shed and greenhouse. The workmanship is of a high standard and we are very pleased with the results.

Additionally a new law was laid and all boorders tidied up and replanted. Where neccessarry trees were cut back to provide light and open up the garden to make it appear spacious; this was done on the advice of Dave Lewis and it has proved to be well worthwhile.

Everyone That Has Seen Our New Garden Love It...

We would like to say a massive thank you to Dave and Andy of Stratford Landscapes for the fantastic job you have made of our beautiful garden!

After moving into our new build property we had a completely blank canvas to work with i.e mud and dirt and nothing else! “Fear not” after meeting with Dave he asked us what we wanted to achieve and then worked with us to design our new garden from scratch. After two days of hard work from Dave and Andy we are left with a garden we could not be more pleased with.
